ARP 134-5402 SBC Main Stud Kit

ARP 134-5402 SBC Main Stud Kit

This ARP 134-5402 SBC Main Stud Kit is for 2-Bolt main small journal engines. Manufactured from 8740 Chromoly Steel, ARP heat treats all studs in-house to 190,000 PSI tensile strength. Precision J-form threads rolled after heat-treat create a fastener that has threads 2000% stronger than others!

ARP 134-5402 SBC Main Stud Kit Features:

  • Eliminates main cap walk and fretting
  • More accurate torque readings
  • Protects engine block threads which improves block life
  • Studs manufactured and heat treated in-house to 190,000 PSI
  • J-Formed threads rolled after heat treating resulting in threads 2000% stronger than others
  • All kits come complete with hardened parallel-ground washers as well as high quality nuts

STUDS vs. BOLTS

Studs provide more accurate and consistent torque loading. Using studs ensures easier engine assembly and proper alignment.

The ARP 134-5402 SBC Main Stud Kit is perfect for that application!

Here’s why: when you use bolts to secure the main, the fastener is actually being “twisted” while it’s being torqued to the proper reading. Accordingly, the bolt is reacting to two different forces simultaneously.

Install a stud in a “relaxed” mode – never crank it in tightly using a jammed nut. Always install the stud hand tight! Then, when applying torque to the nut, the stud will stretch only on the vertical axis.
