ARP 247-5403 Dodge/Cummins Main Stud Kit 5.9L 24V

This ARP 247-5403 Dodge/Cummins Main Stud Kit is for Dodge/Cummins 5.9L 24V engines (2004 and later) with the factory block stiffener plate and 0.600" counter bore. Manufactured from 8740 Chromoly Steel, ARP heat treats all studs in-house to 190,000 PSI tensile strength. Precision J-form threads rolled after heat-treat create a fastener that has threads 2000% stronger than others!

ARP 247-5403 Dodge/Cummins Main Stud Kit Features:

  • Eliminates main cap walk as well as fretting
  • More accurate torque readings
  • Protects engine block threads which improves block life
  • Studs manufactured and heat treated in-house to 190,000 PSI
  • J-Formed threads rolled after heat treating resulting in threads 2000% stronger than others
  • All kits come complete with hardened parallel-ground washers and high quality nuts

STUDS vs. BOLTS

Studs provide more accurate and consistent torque loading. Using studs ensures easier engine assembly and proper alignment.

Here’s why: when you use bolts to secure the main, the fastener is actually being “twisted” while it’s being torqued to the proper reading. Accordingly, the bolt is reacting to two different forces simultaneously.

Install a stud in a “relaxed” mode – never crank it in tightly using a jammed nut. Always install the stud hand tight! Then, when applying torque to the nut, the stud will stretch only on the vertical axis.
