MSD 8489 Crank Trigger Crab Cap Distributor for Chevy
MSD designed this 8489 Crank Trigger Crab Cap Distributor Chevy engines for race engines with almost no room for a distributor due to tunnel rams or blowers. The Low-Profile cap allows this distributor to fit tight intake systems as well as transfer the high voltage of the MSD racing ignition to the spark plugs.
A small, low crab style diameter cap with wide spaced terminals as well as an injection molded Rynite rotor with thick vanes stir up the air inside the cap. The high dielectric Rynite base also prevents arcing to the billet housing.
The housing is CNC-machined from billet aluminum to exact tolerances. For stability well over 10,000 RPM, a sealed ball bearing as well as a long-sintered bushing supports the .500" steel shaft.
This distributor is 0.500" taller for extra tall engine blocks.
Must be used with either an MSD 6, 7 or 8-series ignition.
